Though you surely may have quite different Topfield receivers in Australia, there could be some similarities, that make the following interesting for you:
This TAP enables you to continue to use your old or new remote control unit of TF 5000 / TMS 2100 / SRP 2410 / SRP 2401 (incl. Eco) PVRs on any other of these receivers (even several of them simultaneously!) with all the available keys.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The TAP is actually intended for these PVRs on the German market. For other devices than above mentioned, it is released here ONLY TO EVALUATE ITS USABILITY AND TO PREPARE POSSIBLE ADAPTATION TO THOSE DEVICES.
DOC:         http://acade.au7.de/acaderc/acaderc_en.txt
ZIP:         http://acade.au7.de/acaderc/acaderc.zip
TAPtoDate: http://ttd.tms-taps.net/?lng=en
If you give it a try, please let me know about your experiences!
Ciao,
Acade

The RCUs that work with Australian Toppys are the same as those that work with European models. There is a discussion of the various RCUs on the oztoppy wiki.

Hi Ian,

thanks for your Wiki link, there I found at http://oztoppy.wikidot.com/controlling-multiple-toppys an
"Unanswered question
2. You apparently cannot use a TP307/TP807/TP857 RCU with the TRF-2400/TRF-2460/TRF2470 because the firmware translation table does not include the codes for the Red, Green, Yellow and Blue function keys, and the VolKeyPatch TAP apparently does not support using these RCUs with these Toppys."

That's true, because Mode 1 RCUs are mapping the colour keys to the Vol e.a. codes of all other RCUs and vice versa.

But AcadeRC should correct this mapping even on a TRF-24*0: Stop the RemoteSwitch TAPs, install AcadeRC via TAPtoDate or from the ZIP (link above), start the TAP and enter its menu (Sat + Menu), set TF=2100 (as Mode 5 PVR) RC=2401 (Mode 1 RCU) and IR Filter=On (!), Save & Exit and you're done!

If it works in Australia, I might change the TF=/RC= strings to world-wide selections someday ;-)

Ciao,
Acade

Hi Acade

If I get a chance I will test this and report back. There is also a different issue, which may be more difficult to solve; the TRF-7260 supports both the TP307/TP807 (mode 1) and TP800 (mode 6), however FirmwareTMS.dat cannot deal with this, so it assumes the 7260 and this means that the 7260 is using a TP800/850, which shipped with all but the initial batch of 7260 which shipped with a TP307. I have a custom FirmwareTMS.dat that FireBird constructed so that I can use the TP307/TP807 with the 7260.

Best wishes

Ian

Am I correct in assuming that the TAP will only enable one RCU mode; this is necessary if you have multiple Toppys in the same room as I do.

Best wishes

Ian

1. AcadeRC doesn't use FirmwareTMS.dat, you can select the target mode on your own (TF=).

2. AcadeRC enables both modes, original and replacement RCU (I could inhibit the original, but this could cause trouble if s.th. goes wrong). Instead, AcadeRC has its own, more flexible concept of controlling multiple PVRs simultaneously, see my description, point 4.

Ciao,
Acade

BTW: Can you please fix the board's date/time presentation (secs since 1970 here), really annoying ...

Unfortunately I do not have access to some important administrative features. Hence no threads for the TRF-5300 series or TRF-2200. I have asked for them to be created but no luck.

There is a new version of AcadeRC:

New: Optionally disable original RCU
New: Language selection, German / English
New: Font selection, normal / bold
New: Online description (in TAP's menu)
New: Update online description from internet
New: Statistics infos about toppy usage

The new version is not available via TAPtoDate, instead you can use the TAP's built-in update function or download it from http://acade.au7.de .

Have fun,
Acade

Hi Ian (and others),

have you solved the above issues by using AcadeRC?
Just curious whether my TAP is useful for you down under ;-)

Have fun,
Acade

Hi, it is still on my list of things to be done. I have gone through the documentation and made notes; the next stage is to test it.

Hope to get on to it in the next day or so.

Ian

A new version (v3.20) is now available via TAPtoDate (also in English) or from my website or using the TAP's built-in update function.
New features: File browser with text viewer, toppy usage statistics and a calendar.
TAPtoDate: http://ttd.tms-taps.net/?lng=en

Have fun,
Acade

Thanks for the update. I was about to test the TAP (number 2 on my 'to be done today' list. I hope to have some feedback Today.

Hi Acade

I tested the TAP on a TF7100HDPVRt Plus (other Australian Toppys supporting the RCU are the TRF-7160, TRF-7170, TRF-7260); the RCU is the same as that used by the 2401 CI. On my limited testing with a 5000 [M4] remote everything worked as expected. I tested this with 2 different RCUs, the TP304 and TP013 (supports modes 1, 2, 3, and 4 - used mode 4).

I then attempted to use a TP501 RCU (used by the TRF-2400/2460/2470 and 5300 series) - it is used by European 2100/2401 [M5]. The Vol =/- and Ch +/- keys stopped working; they all returned a 0x2000000 code. In the file manager, the coloured function keys worked as expected, but the white key (options) did not work. In file navigation all keys worked correctly.

For the TP501 the I have the following key information;

Ch+                    NEC 0x61-> 0x10045 RKEY_ChUp

Ch-                     NEC 0x62-> 0x10046 RKEY_ChDown

Vol +                   NEC 0x63-> 0x10047 RKEY_VolUp

Vol-                    NEC 0x64-> 0x10048 RKEY_VolDown

White/options       NEC 0x65 -> 0x10049           RKEY_Option

I had similar issues using the 2401 Eco [M6]. Australia has two different Mode 6 RCU, the TP800/TP850 and the very rare TP602. I do not recall if I tested the options key. In addition, the red function key did not work for either of these RCUs.

Red TP602              NEC 0x4d -> 0x1003f            RKEY_NewF1

Red TP800/850        NEC 0x0b -> 0x10023           RKEY_F1

The above RCUs work with models that support the TP501, and in addition work with the TRF-7260.

These results are, if I remember correctly, better than I managed with RemoteSwitch TAP. Generally the function keys did not work, but I think the Vol+/- and Ch+/- worked. Of course I may be mistaken.

Ian

This would appear to be a malformed key release code.

Hi Ian,

thx a lot for your feedback, we will (hopefully) solve the issues step by step.

But first of all: It is VERY good news, that old Mode 4 RCUs work with the Australian toppies using AcadeRC, that was an original intention of the TAP.

Now to your supplied key codes: Have you obtained them by using the keycodes lookup function within the TAP? If not, please do so and be absolutely sure to set and save the correct TF= and RC= values before. Especially reproduce the 0x02000000 from within the TAP (IR Filter = On and saved, no RemoteSwitch).

If the problems have to do with special filter switching, I will need much more time, which I can't afford at the moment, but let's see ...

Ciao,
Acade
